Martin Short stirs his humor with poignancy and empowerment
Taking the stage on a panel with actress, producer, writer Lena Dunham, Irish novelist, Essyist,and journalist Colm Toibin, and Scottish-American actor Alan Cumming at BookExpo America 2014, with an introduction by master of ceremonies Cumming, Canadian-born actor, comedian, singer, producer and now author Martin Short took a couple of well-timed jabs at the panel and early-morning event before introducing his memoir I Must Say (Harper Paperbacks Reprint; (July, 2015). Revealing trade secrets such as how he developed his characters, Short entertained the audience, demonstrating his acting life on stage, but on a serious note wrapped his appearance with the story of his wife's death from cancer, and his decision to write a memoir with the theme of empowerment.
